WordPress needs to get its act together

Okay, so e-cloudy database and WordPress website collapsed. This time it collapsed bad. Nothing remained of the two year old database of around 230mb worth of data. No recovery process worked and this time it was gone for good.

Some regular e-cloudy visitors may notice that some of the original content was restored. That is because and thanks to the magic of the apple iPad back up and google search cached search results. Without which the whole of the original work would have disappeared forever.

How did WordPress collapse on e-cloudy for the 17th time? Simple, trying to run two plugins and website crawl all together.That was enough to corrupt 230mb worth of articles, pictures and user comments! That even wrecked the MySQL service of my hosting server.

Because the original articles were written using the iPad and published directly using iPad WordPress app the data remains save. The e-cloudy published using the iPad concept paid off big time. Thanks to apple and Steve Jobs.

Wordpress is a fantastic platform, but it needs to be much more stronger and reliable. I am still using WordPress on the restored e-cloudy website, but this time there is an additional task of keeping each and every article and pictures backed up both offline and on desktop ; also google drive cloud services is coming is handy.

My brother did mention WordPress has a Dropbox connect plugin which helps to keep automated backup of the entire WordPress database. Here is a link to that plugin ; WORDPRESS BACK-UP TO DROPBOX.

Writing is fun and rewarding only when you can preserve it for a period of decades not years WordPress.

I was a Bollywood fan when I was a kid, I was a Bollywood fan because my mom, aunt, grandma and grandpa would always watch the latest Amitabh Bachan, Rekha and Sridevi movies on the then VCR/VHS players.Those memories were awesome, and always to be cherished. Then came a Bollywood period where ‘rape scenes’ would be very common.That actually put me off Bollywood movies after my dad commented one day while watching a rape scene.Then there was a gap of 15 years, till I got married and that is the time my wife reintroduced to the new and bold bollywood.

Following is the review of the movie that got me back to Bollywood after 15 years ;

A wedding is a time for fun, enjoyment and celebration. Indian weddings, especially, are lavish affairs.Band Baaja Baraat takes you behind the scenes to show what goes on behind these weddings.Shruti (Anushka Sharma), a final year student in college works part time as a wedding planner. She is a no nonsense girl, full of energy and prone to anger. Her goal is to become the best wedding planner in India. She already has a name ready for her business, ‘Shaadi Mubarak’ and sets a deadline of 5 years to achieve everything before settling down.

Bitoo (Ranveer Singh), on the other hand is the exact opposite. While Shruti knows what she wants, Bitoo is lazy and unmotivated. He spends most of his time with his friends gate crashing weddings for the food.It is not long before Shruti runs into Bittoo. Despite their contrasting personalities, Bitoo falls hard for Shruti and they soon become friends.Lady luck shines on Bittoo and the two become partners in the ‘wedding planning ka bijness’. Shruti sets the rules. Profit will be 50-50 and Jisse vyapaar karo, usse kabhi na pyaar karo (Don’t mix business with pleasure). Together, they provide personalised and honest wedding services.

Business blossoms and so does their relationship. One thing leads to another and Shruti forgets the rules. She starts liking Bittoo but this creates a rift and thus begins their individual journey that forms the rest of the story.The script is fresh and debutant director Maneesh Sharma does full justice to it. The movie is well written and the director has handled the subject really well. He has executed the light moments as well as subtle emotions amazingly well.

Dialogues and screenplay by Habib Faisal, who directed Do Dooni Chaar are first rate. The film’s look is also striking. Bittoo and Shruti’s styling is up to the mark. Aseem Mishra’s cinematography is excellent. You almost feel that you have entered the by lanes of Delhi [ Images ]. Music composers Salim-Sulaiman have done a good job as well. The songs are perfectly timed and in keeping with the mood of the film.Anushka Sharma is a treat to watch. She has come a long way since her first movie. She can cry and laugh at the same time and deliver a biting line with equal believability. Ranveer Singh is very natural and his sincerity can be seen in his performance. He brings spontaneity to his character. The rest of the supporting cast has done a good job too.

On the whole, Band Baaja Baraat is a refreshing film — very different from the usual romantic comedy movies we’re so used to. It is a well-made film that should connect with the audience. Give this one a chance, you won’t regret it.

I have been watching Bollywood films since I was a kid. My mom would
rent those Amitabh Bachan with Rekha movies on VHS tapes and watch it
in my grandma’s place together with my maternal Aunty.Those Bachan
movies were great for me as Bollywood would focus on action
sequence,songs,cool dance moves and emotional plots.As I grew up the
Bollywood theme started to shift and slowly went shameless,it got more
into corrupt cops and ugly uncomfortable to watch rape scenes.Which
eventually led my dad to complain to my mom about them in front of me.
So I kind of stopped watching it ever since.It was only when I was in
college that I watched another Bollywood movie after a decade and a
half. Honestly? I had bad fever after only 2 hrs of viewing and a
splitting headache.It was over charged with hyper emotions and over
romanticism.Then nearly after 2 and half decades later in came Aamir
Khan movies.I watched Aamir Khan act in films when I was a Kid, I saw
his entrance to the Indian film industry and it was all
mainstream,romantic hero saving his heroine. It’s only after he
started producing film his true talent started to show,shine and
shone. All of Aamir’s movie thus far has been mind refreshingly
fantastic and Delhi Belly is no exception. It makes you laugh till you
fall of your sofa or couch and it’s shocks you with India’s MTV video
jockey girls acting in Aamir’s movie as actresses , moaning as they
reach orgasm while getting a..well watch it, which for me is a first
in an Indian released movie.All in all it’s just mind blowing as three
main characters of the movie who are friends living in a shared
dilapidated Delhi apartment trying to hope and achieve their dreams,
which is to get rich fast by any means possible.Go watch how Bollywood
is making Hollywood comedy movies look lame,slowly but surely! Even
though 90% of Bollywood movies still portrays barbie doll pretty
actress in high heels and short mini skirts shaking their booty, Aamir
Khan movies are entertaining without that very element which spells
‘hope’ and a very bright future for till now sleeping giant film
industry – Bollywood.

The new thundercats would have worked if….

When I was a boy I was fascinated by the then tv cartoon series thundercats. That was back in 1984. The thundercats were strong, powerful and honest. Lion-o the lord of the thundercats was a strong lion man who knew no fear and have courage to his team and others. The sword of omen always there to guide him through life.

But that was then, now there was a new thundercats that was started back in 2011. This new thundercats was an attempt to rewrite the old thundercats. There is a saying that goes ” if it ain’t broken then don’t try to fix it”.

The old thundercats had no problem whatsoever in its storyline, plot or characters so why did they try to rewrite it? To gain new audience of this generation where lion-o is a scared teenager who is quite arrogant in nature and is more interested in getting a girlfriend then fighting evil forces. The new lion-o is weak and small. Even the toyline is so pathetic that the new lion-o toy is half the size of the classic lion-o toy!

That was just lion-o, the rest of the character is not even worth mentioning. Mum-Ra was pure evil in the classic version, in the new version I don’t even remember how mum-ra looks.

This new thundercats would have been very successful had the storyline went on like the following ;

Lion-o gets married to Pumayra and they have a son who is the new lion-o, the smaller lion-o.

Panthro had a distant cousin and that cousin had a son who looks like Panthro but is bigger and stronger.

Cheetara has a daughter with Tygra who looks more like Cheetara than Tygra.

And so on and so forth…..Mum-Ra is still the old Mum-Ra as he is ever living!

The funny thing is cartoon network has stopped airing the new thundercats and in place have started rerunning the classic thundercats, as new fans are joining the club every day.

So what is not broken needs not to be fixed. Thundercats Hoooooooo!

Okay, I just finished watching Tintin 3d and I must say I found it to be a very different experience compared to the actual Tintin comic book reading experience. The movie was a bit loud whereas Tintin comics are subtle.

Here are something’s I didn’t like in the 3d.

1. The wallet thief is shown to be a gentle man in an expensive suit in the flea market in the first 10 minutes of the movie giving away the mystery the comic book had. The thief was not exposed till half-way in the comic book which Tintin mystery is truly what it is all about.

2. The 3d is a mixture of two comic book episodes, the secret of the unicorn and the crab with the golden claws.the crab with the golden claws remains unsolved and unfinished giving an impression that the comic book adventure was a waste of comic strip and pages.

3. Snowy looks too much like the comic book and very stiff. Whereas Tintin and captain haddock looks different more like new 3d characters instead of Herge’s comic book characters.

4. How did Nestor get to be in the time of Red Reckhams is beyond me. Haddock may look like his ancestor but Nestor looking like his is pushing it a bit too much.

5. The villain of the story was actually a good character in the comic book, a ship collector is all he was so it was hard for me to comprehend while watching the 3d that the ship collector is evil.

6. The crane fight between haddock and the ship collector was put in the movie to please American audiences. Hope they like it better than I did.

I will now get back to reading my Tintin comics on my iPad. I read each Tintin adventures around 20 times or more since 1988. But I doubt I will ever have the urge to watch Tintin 3d again.

Other notable Tintin objects used in the 3d movie were, the statue from the broken ear, the red jeep from the black gold and the statue of the astronaut from flight 714.

Dhaka city , where the bicycle rides the fastest.

I live in a city where the population is around 12 million and growing.The population is growing at 4 percent annually, the fastest growing rate in the world.

That said the number of vehicles plying the city roads are near about 8 million.The city has only 8 percent of the roads fit to travel for this massive number of vehicles.

The result is a grid lock for more than 16 hours each day. The rest of the 8 hours of the day is night time, when no one except for the trucks and few heavy duty buses ply the city roads due to lack of security and 24 hours services.

I have been using the rickshaw to get around the city for the last 4 years since using the car would get me nowhere back in 2008 and even if it did there was no way to park it if you are self driving.

But starting mid 2012 traffic system began to collapse and the grid locks got much deadlier. Even rickshaws started to get stuck in the tail back jams.

Riding the rickshaw does have its advantages, you can hop on and off when in a jam and change the rickshaw after walking some meter or feet.

But soon that started to take its toll as well, as more and more people started to hop rickshaws to save time and to get to destinations on time. The number of rickshaws allowed to ply on the city roads are limited to reduce traffic congestion, so no rickshaws for all.

I tried walking for a while but it’s just too slow and you get tired easily. Though walking is good for the health.

Solution? Get my MTB bicycle (which I have had since 2009) out on the road to tackle the horrible and sometimes unbearable traffic grid locks. I must say I was a bit skeptic at first seeing the way people drive their vehicles on the roads here in Bangladesh.

But soon enough I started to realize that the benefits of cycling is not just overcoming the traffic but also health wise you start to feel better and much more relaxed as when you are on your bicycle you can always get out of a grid lock no matter how bad it is, in short the solution was found.

Pretty soon other folks started to realize the same benefit of biking and now Dhaka has bike clubs and MTB groups with Facebook pages. These bikers are ready to tackle the problem of this massive city’s everlasting traffic jams and come out of it with speed and a healthy mind.

Bike riders are increasing on a daily basis and while those riding in cars looks on as to how lean and fit the bikers look when they whiz past with a smile on their faces as the million taka/dollar toyota’s, Benz’s and BMW’s just sit there burning precious fossil fuel.

I want to blog about God, not the God of Islam, not the God of Hinduism, not the God of Judaism or Christianity. But the Creator of all things – God. The creator of earth, the ant, atoms and my heart, me.

I see any living or non-living elements here on earth and I see the creators master piece. The state of perfection without any flaw. I know I am just flesh and blood and I know I am mortal as a man. But I am also his creation and his masterpiece.

His work astonishes me and awes me to bewilder. Only humans are given the unique state of identity. Only humans are given the power of reasoning. Each human have a unique identity locked in their DNA, fingerprint and iris. If we humans are not special then why this gift? – there are 7 billion unique DNA codes walking the face of the Earth as I blog.

I am a human and I am a creation. But I also am a soul. I understand that only the creator directs his creations. You are born into families and traditions of Muslims, Christians or Jews. Your race is also decided by the creator. You are born into his creation as you are. You are not given the choice to decide before you arrive here on earth in the form of a human.
