Chilli Power for Libido

Spice up your love life with chillies. When your face flushes after eating a curry, that’s the blood vessels expanding thanks to the effect of the chillies. And it’s not just the blood vessels in your face that get the boost. You are left red faced after gobbling chillies or a spicy curry, the reason is the expansion of blood vessels.

The same is the effect on your penis, chillies forces more blood in the blood vessels of the penis helping in harder erections. Biologically speaking a hard-on is simple hydraulics – more liquid (blood) being forced into little tubes (blood vessels) in your penis – so what you need is a strong heart and smooth, healthy pipework.

During an erection, blood flows quickly into the penis, which increases its length, width, and firmness. If the “in” vessels or arteries are too narrow, or if blood drains too quickly through the “out” vessels or veins, men may have trouble achieving or maintaining an erection.

When a man gets sexually stimulated, the nervous system in the erectile tissue of the penis releases nitric oxide, that stimulates a chain reaction causing the arteries in the penis to dilate, allowing the blood to flow into the penis more easily. The erectile tissue itself fills with blood, and both of these processes result in an erection.

Capsaicin-containing herbs, including cayenne pepper, have been an active ingredient in pain-relief salves for centuries. Even when applied to the skin, it dilates blood vessels to increase blood flow, which in the case of pain relief accelerates healing and relaxes tense muscles. According to famed herbalist Dr. John Carpenter, the same process happens when capsaicin is taken internally, to the degree that it could stop a heart attack if taken at the right time.

You can see where this is going. Vasodilation fights erectile dysfunction by supporting the physical processes that produce an erection. Cayenne pepper is a powerful vasodilator, whether taken internally or topically (source).

Chilli pepper is known to increase blood flow in your body, as well as increasing libido. However, it will also stimulate the production of endorphins that make you feel aroused and elated.
