Angry Birds movie much Better than Batman vs Superman and more “Fun”

The Angry Birds Movie is a 2016 American-Finnish 3D computer-animated action-adventure comedy film based on the video game series of the same name. It was directed by Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly (in their directorial debuts),
produced by John Cohen and Catherine Winder, and written by Jon Vitti.

The movie is based on the mobile app game Angry Birds initially released back in 2011 and is a very vibrant, colorful, happy and fun 3D animated movie. While watching the movie one cannot help but smile and laugh all the while. It never has a dull moment and never slows down instead it keeps going like the original mobile game does.

The animation is full of action and comedy. Kids love it everywhere and so does some adults. The Angry Birds Movie has received mixed reviews from critics though. On Rotten Tomatoes the film has a rating of 43%, based on 114 reviews, with an average rating of 5/10. The site’s critical consensus reads, “The Angry Birds Movie is substantially more entertaining than any film adapted from an app has any right to be – which may or may not be much of an endorsement”. On Metacritic the film has a score of 43 out of 100, based on 25 critics, indicating “mixed or average reviews”.

The film is not sexist like Batman vs Superman where Wonder Woman drops by without getting a title just because she is a female. Also Angry Birds is much easier to watch and enjoy than the mess that is Batman vs Superman where a female comic hero just “drops by”.

The film has been animated by Sony Pictures Imageworks, and stars Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon, Sean Penn, Tony Hale, Keegan-Michael Key, Bill Hader and Peter Dinklage. It has been released in the United States on May 20, 2016.

The Finnish franchise has made quite a bold move by making this animation movie together with the help of SONY Entertainment. It’s boldest move would be to release it to the American audience who are more inclined to local characters, such as Mickey Mouse, Batman and Superman. Angry Birds is the only foreign comic character that is making some American laugh – and that’s a good thing for any animated movie!

American or not the kids in the theater I watched the movie in were all “hooked” to the Birds.
