X-rated Pakistani Model Killed by Brother for Honor

A 26 year old very popular Pakistani YouTube social media celebrity named Qandeel Baloch (Born: March 1, 1990, Daska, Pakistan) has been strangled to death by her own brother in yet another “honour killing” in Pakistan, local Pakistani police stated. Qandeel, known for posting bold videos and statements on both YouTube and Facebook, was killed at the family home on the outskirts of Multan in Punjab, Pakistan. The brother has been absconding after murdering his own sister Qandeel whose real Muslim name is Fauzia Azeem.

Ms Baloch, 26, recently caused controversy by posting controversial pictures of herself on social media, including one alongside a Muslim cleric. Her father told the police that she was strangled in her sleep by her own brother in her room. Her parents were asleep on the rooftop of the same house.

Cases of women being killed for ‘dishonouring’ their family are commonplace in Pakistan. Qandeel Baloch became a household name for posting bold, sometimes raunchy, photographs, video and comments.

“Nothing is good in this society. This patriarchal society is bad,” she said in a recent interview.

Three weeks ago, Qandeel wrote to Interior Minister and the Senior Superintendent of Police in Islamabad asking them to provide security to her. She had said her life was in danger and that she was being threatened via calls on her mobile number. “I need security from you,” she said.

The model seemed to be troubled in the last few days, Geo News Multan Bureau Chief said. “The last I called her for an interview, she was crying on the phone,” he said. She was planning to settle down abroad (in the USA) after Eid-ul-Fitr, citing security reasons.

Most recently Qandeel met Mufti Abdul Qavi in a hotel room to learn more about her faith, the interaction between them brought mayhem on social media platforms as their photos went viral online.She also wore a hat with Mufti's signature.

Qandeel was derided and feted in equal measure in Pakistan. According to Dawn, her videos had been viewed more than 830,000 times and garnered thousands of likes. She first shot to fame in Pakistan in 2014 after a video of her pouting for the camera.

Some Pakistani’s called her death “good news” and even praised her suspected killer whop has actually thought to have put an end to a very sexual and “evil” person. In Pakistan, women, especially poor ones, still lack basic rights, from schooling to choosing a husband and violence against them is rife. The country struggles with sexuality and especially with “immodest” women. The fact that her YouTube videos went viral suggests a local fascination with confident female sexuality – along with fear of its power and independence.
