“Ronal The Barbarian” depicts sexual characteristics in 3D
“Ronal the Barbarian” is a Danish animation which parodies the sword & sorcery genre, the third animated work of directors Thorbjørn Christoffersen, Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen and Philip Einstein Lipski. Ronal The Barbarian is hilarious and probably the only animated comedy depicting primary sexual characteristics on the big screen in glorious 3D.
Viewers may agree that the jokes are in some essence quite lame and sometimes illogical, but try not to chuckle when you see a bunch of thong-wearing barbarians flex their muscles. You cannot not laugh!
The Danish animation takes about every stereotype available and uses it as a joke, and as mentioned before, pulls it off. It’s the first film for Denmark’s Einstein Film, which was established in 2009 by the three directors and producer Trine Heidergaard.
The studio is coproduced by commercial broadcaster TV 2/Danmark and supported by the Danish Film Institute. The film has an estimated budget of $3.5 million and was featured at this year’s Cartoon Movie.
Ronal the Barbarian premiered in Denmark on September 29th, 2011.
