Bangladeshi YouTuber “Salman Muqtadir” Arrested over ‘Saucy’ video post on YouTube

Salman Muqtadir a.k.a SalmoN TheBrownFish who has been YouTubing for the last 3 years in Bangladesh was arrested and interrogated by the local Cyber Crime Unit Police department for his ‘controversial’ YouTube video “OBHODRO PREM” (Obscene Love), the Cyber Crime Unit stated.

Confirming the matter, Cyber Crime Unit’s Additional Deputy Commissioner AFM Al Kibria told the Dhaka Tribune that Salman came to the unit’s office around 3pm Tuesday for questioning and left the place after a couple of hours.

“We called Salman Muqtadir over some queries about his controversial YouTube video, in light of the Safe Internet slogan of Post, Telecom & IT Minister Mustafa Jabbar,” he added.

However, the officer did not disclose any further details.

Wishing anonymity, an official said the Cyber Crime Unit was always working to keep the internet safe, and to that end recently questioned one model for her allegedly offensive and pornographic content on the internet.

The unit had received complaints about the various contents of Salman Muqtadir, the official added.

Sources said that a few days ago, Salman Muqtadir released a video song on his YouTube channel titled ‘Ovodro Prem.’ He was criticized for his indecent remarks in the video.

The government has taken up an initiative to monitor content on the internet to protect the youth, blocking 1,500 porn and gambling sites. All the cyber units of Bangladesh Police, RAB, BTRC, National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC) and ICT Ministry are working together in this campaign.

Salman could not be reached for comments over the matter.
